The dynamic and versatile cello and piano duo was born In Byron Bay, upon the meeting of Irish cellist Tara-Lee Byrne and French pianist Jordane François. Tara-Lee and Jordane are classically trained professional musicians, schooled in the European traditions having forged their performing and teaching careers in Europe.
The Onyx Duo has transfigured their classical training to freely explore and cross the musical boundaries of classical, contemporary and popular music genres.

Hiring The Onyx Duo for our wedding ceremony and canapés reception was the best decision we ever made. At our request they arranged and performed so beautifully "our song" that was playing when we first met. It was a dream come true walking down the aisle to their elegant performance. Our guests loved being serenaded by Tara-Lee & Jordane before the ceremony. Their diverse range of music for the canapés reception kept everyone entertained. We prefer to play acoustically. However, depending on the wedding venue and number of guests in attendance we may require a sound system. We can discuss this during our free consultation call.
Kindly complete our enquiry form below with as much detail as possible. We will then contact you to arrange a free consultation call to discuss your wedding music requests. Following our call we will email you our booking contract. We hold your wedding date for 5 days in our calendar. During this time we ask you to complete the contract electronically and return it to us with a 30% non-refundable deposit. As soon as we receive BOTH the signed contract and the non-refundable deposit, we will email your booking confirmation. All remaining balances are kindly due for payment 30 days before your wedding date without exception.
Due to the high volume of enquiries, please get in contact as soon as possible to avoid missing our on your date. We advise three to six months in advance.
All wedding venues wish to keep on time as often the canapés or wedding reception can be held in different venues and other events providers are directly affected. If your wedding ceremony start time runs late we graciously offer a 10-minute grace period for which we will not charge an extra fee. This extra time will not be added to your wedding package. If you or your wedding planner decide on the spot and wish for us to play for longer than originally agreed our overtime rate will apply which is outlined in your wedding contract, and is subject to our availability on the day.

do you need a sound system?
Our fee includes travelling up to 30km from Byron Bay. If your venue is further than 30km away from Byron Bay, a travel fee will apply which will be discussed prior to booking. Please provide this information on our enquiry page in order for us to provide you with a personalised quote
We will happily travel anywhere and everywhere for your wedding. We strongly recommend getting in contact as soon as possible at least three months before your wedding if your wedding is interstate. Please provide this information on our enquiry page in order for us to provide you with a personalised quote.

We enjoy performing with guest singers and musicians. Since these tend to be unique to each wedding, please contact us with your specific requirements. Normally, these types of special performances require a rehearsal with the guest musician for which we do charge a fee.
do you accompany guest singers OR other musicians?
We enjoy playing for outdoor weddings. Our only concerns are the safety of our instruments and the quality of our sound. Our instruments must avoid direct exposure to the sun as this causes the instruments to warp. For this reason, we require complete shade while using our instruments outdoors. We regret that we cannot perform in the rain. Jordane performs on a digital piano and experience shows electricity and rain are not good friends!
Tara-Lee's very expensive cello is made of wood and cannot be exposed to direct rain or very high humidity as it will cause it to warp. Trust us you do not want that invoice! We regret that we cannot be responsible for weather related cancellations. All remaining balances are due and must be paid.
do you play for outdoor weddings?

If there is a song you’ve always dreamed of walking down the aisle to that is not on our set list, at an additional cost, we can do a custom song arrangement for up to 2 songs for any of your extra special moments.
can you learn a new song for our wedding?
We will arrive 60 minutes before your ceremony starts. We provide EVERYTHING except chairs. We ask you to arrange for us two armless chairs with the wedding venue. We will take care of everything else. Our setup time is approximately 15 minutes, leaving your wedding planner/celebrant plenty of opportunity to speak with us about cues and any additional final details.
